Hope Rugo, M.D.

Dr. Rugo is a hematologist-oncologist who specializes in breast cancer treatment. She joined the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center after a decade at UCSF Medical Center, where she worked in bone marrow transplantation for a variety of diseases, including breast cancer. Rugo is co-director of UCSF’s breast cancer clinical trials program. She is the principal investigator for several clinical trials of potential new therapies. She is also an investigator with the Bay Area’s SPORE (Specialized Programs of Research Excellence) on breast cancer. The National Cancer Institute established SPORE to foster collaborative, interdisciplinary cancer research.
