Pre-Workshop for Patient Advocates

May 7, 2019, Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.

The Pre-Workshop for Patient Advocates is a one-day course held the day before the AAADV Workshop and is intended as an extension of the workshop. It is open to advocates from all disease sites and focuses on how advocates can work more effectively with all stakeholders in the research process to ensure that the patient voice is incorporated across all conversations and decision making.

The Pre-Workshop introduces cancer patient advocates to the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) drug development and approval process and provides basic training on the roles of the FDA and cancer patient advocates in oncology product development. This broad introduction is most relevant to those with limited knowledge and experience in cancer product development and patient advocacy. Knowledge and perspective gained at the Pre-Workshop helps patient advocates benefit more fully from the complex discussions that take place at the AAADV Workshop.

AAADV is  proud to bring the patient perspective to the important discussions taking place at workshop. We recognize the need to stop deaths from cancer and believe in the power of partnerships because one single person or organization cannot end this disease alone. This course can impact treatments for cancer patients because advocates are essential to this conversation.

Scholarships are available for the Patient Advocate Pre-Workshop.
