Carla Herberts is trained as a chemist and toxicologist and has a PhD in Immunology at the faculty of Medicine in Leiden (NL). Following a post-doc in (tumour) cell biology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NL) investigating antigen presentation pathway and the impact of radiation on Immune responses Carla started working as a non-clinical assessor of medicinal products at the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment with a special focus on immunological and cell therapy products. Subsequently, Carla transferred to the Medicines Evaluation Board and worked as (senior) clinical assessor of (hemato) oncology products. Since 2019 Carla is appointed as NL representative at the committee for advanced therapies at EMA, first as alternate and since 2020 as full member.
