Jaap Verweij, MD, PhD, is an Emeritus Professor of Medical Oncology, and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He has served the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), as chairman of several study groups, and committees, and as Vice-President. He served the
Connective Tissue Oncology Society as president, RECIST working group as chairman, the Dutch Cancer Foundation (KWF) as chairman of the Scientific Council and vice-chairman of the Board of, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology as member of the Board of Directors. He has been Managing Director of the Cancer Drug Development Forum (CDDF), and currently serves as its vice-chairman of the Board of Directors In 2011 Jaap Verweij was appointed as fellow of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences, and in 2017 as Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
