Thomas R. Fleming, PhD, is Professor and former Chair of the Department of Biostatistics at the
University of Washington in Seattle, and Member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Dr Fleming has coauthored several books and more than 300 research articles in peer-reviewed journals,
many regarding the development of state-of-the-art methods for the design, conduct and analysis of
clinical trials, and many others reporting the results of landmark trials. He has chaired or served on
DMCs for more than 300 clinical trials and served as a voting member on FDA Advisory Committees on
more than 100 occasions.
Dr Fleming has received numerous awards and was elected to membership in the National Academy of
Medicine in 2015.
